Anne Marie Bowler
Anne Marie’s client-base includes a range of disciplines, from designers, restauranteurs and artists, to not-for-profits, real estate developers and international corporations.
Anne Marie litigates matters in New York state and federal court through all stages of litigation, including appeals, involving business disputes, breach of contract claims, employment matters and intellectual property protection.
Anne Marie counsels clients on a range of employment matters, privacy issues, contract disputes, corporate governance issues, business separation agreements, intellectual property protection and insurance matters. Additionally, Anne Marie represents clients in regulatory and compliance matters before state and federal agencies, and is a trained and certified mediator.
Anne Marie is an Adjunct Professor at New York Law School where she teaches the upper-level course, Drafting Contracts, and previously taught Legal Reasoning Writing and Research, and Written and Oral Advocacy.
Prior to co-founding Gabay-Rafiy & Bowler LLP, Anne Marie Bowler was a Senior Litigator in Proskauer Rose LLP’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, as well as the Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice Group. At Proskauer, Anne Marie represented high profile clients in internal investigations, government investigations, state and federal prosecutions, and large-scale commercial litigations.
During her career, Anne Marie served a two-year term as the Senior Law Clerk for the former Chief Judge of the State of New York, Judith S. Kaye, on the State’s highest court, the Court of Appeals. There, Anne Marie assisted with drafting legal opinions in civil and criminal appeals brought before the Court and analyzed criminal leave applications.
Anne Marie Bowler received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School and graduated from Siena College magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts, Social Work degree. Anne Marie is admitted to practice in the State of New York, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Anne Marie stays abreast of current legal developments affecting clients as an active Member of the Litigation Commercial Division and Intellectual Property Committees of the New York State Bar Association; Fashion Law and Copyright and Literary Property Committees of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York; the Copyright Committee of the American Bar Association; and as member of the National Association of Women Lawyers and The Historical Society of the Courts of the State of New York, Former Law Clerks.
Anne Marie Bowler is committed to several philanthropic organizations. Through her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, she has built homes in Mississippi, Louisiana, Brazil and Portugal. Anne Marie is also active in her community in New York City where she is involved in the Charles Street Association and is on the board of her co-op, and contributes to West View, a community newspaper in the West Village. Anne Marie is a volunteer with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts where she provides pro bono counsel to artists, and is currently studying Italian.
